"I was not able to lift my self up
from the hospital bed without using my elbows as support none the less stand up
without holding onto the wall. I felt like my legs were giving in on me. A
nurse quickly noticed and asked me to walk to her without holding onto
anything. With just a few steps she realized that she needed to get a doctor
for me.
When
returning to my room, a doctor was already waiting for me. He had me lay down
and started to examine me. I had to lift my legs and kick."
This non-fiction story came from a first hand experience. This point of my life was quite hurtful for me. The trauma is still present and I'm still trying to heal. It's easier to write a story when it's a first hand experience. When you have been independent throughout your whole life, and need help to do the most minor thing as to just get up out of bed is hurtful.
Since it was my first time writing my story , my final draft for the portfolio will be more extent and will include more details. I was short and straight to the point. I have never written short stories before. I have written poetry and essays for class. Non-fiction stories are about writing what can be. It doesn't necessarily have to be about your own life story. There are things that should and should not be written. That's why there are pieces that are memoirs and others hat can just be stories.
I revised my paper by reading it over and over. I kept cutting and adding things that would make my story as unique as can be. Even if it's my story, others could have experienced something similar.
